Brentford's Matt Cox and Daniel Oyegoke both played 90 minutes in England Under-20s' winning start to their U20 World Cup campaign.

Tottenham's Dane Scarlett scored a first-half goal to secure the victory over Tunisia U20 in Argentina, which got Ian Foster's side off to the perfect start in Group E.

England’s dominated the game in terms of possession, territory and attempts, and could have won the game by a more comfortable scoreline.

The Young Lions went ahead when Chelsea midfielder and England captain Harvey Vale was given too much time and space on the left and, when he delivered a perfectly whipped cross for Scarlett, the striker guided a firm downward header past the Tunisian 'keeper.

The second half continued in the same vein as the opening 45 minutes, with the Young Lions firmly in control of the game.

Tunisia did start to put the pressure on just after the hour mark and Cox was called into action to keep his side in the game.

An angled free-kick towards goal, when most were expecting a cross, almost caught Cox out, but the Bees man was alert enough to scramble across and make a save.

He then did well to hold a long-range effort from Mohamed Dhaoui, as Tunisia’s desperation for a goal began to grow in the dying stages.

Oyegoke, who recently won the Premier League Cup with Brentford B, was a standout performer for England at right-wing-back, causing problems with his powerful dribbling and good footwork.

England will be back in action on Thursday 25 May at 7pm, when they take on Uruguay at the same venue in La Plata.
