Brentford players Nathan Collins and Igor Thiago were both on target as they helped their respective countries win international friendlies over the weekend.

Collins scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory against Qatar for the Republic of Ireland, while Thiago came off the bench to help Brazil defeat Panama 6-2.

Caoimhín Kelleher joined his Bees colleague and captain in the starting XI at Aviva Stadium on Thursday evening, with the duo helping Heimir Hallgrímsson's side secure a clean sheet in the Irish capital.

Both sides ended the game with 10 men, but Collins' fifth-minute header from a Jack Moylan free-kick was enough to secure a win.

In what was Thiago's first appearance for Brazil in his homeland, he made an impressive impact from the bench after being introduced as a half-time substitute.

Eight minutes into his first outing at the infamous Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, his pressing earned him an assist for Bournemouth winger Rayan.

And, midway through the second half, Brentford's no.9 nutmegged his marker before being brought down by the goalkeeper to win a penalty, and picked himself up to convert from 12 yards to net a second international goal from his three caps to date.

Elsewhere, Aaron Hickey and Kristoffer Ajer started as Scotland and Norway secured victories in their final home friendlies before travelling to the World Cup in North America.

Scotland fell behind to a brilliant early Tahith Chong goal, but Finlay Curtis equalised just before half-time at Hampden Park.

Hickey was one of five players substituted at the interval for Steve Clarke's side, who face Bolivia in New Jersey on Sunday in their final friendly before the World Cup begins.

Ajer, meanwhile, played just over an hour as Norway defeated Sweden 3-1 in Oslo.

A double from Crystal Palace striker Jørgen Strand Larsen sandwiched a strike from Antonio Nusa as the hosts raced into a three-goal lead at the break.

Liverpool forward Alexander Isak pulled one back in the final 15 minutes, when Ajer had already been substituted.

Finally, Hákon Valdimarsson picked up his 22nd cap for Iceland on Sunday.

Arnar Gunnlaugsson's side fell to a 1-0 defeat against Japan in Tokyo, with Koki Ogawa scoring the only goal of the game late on.
