Brentford have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.
Scout will be using their expertise to provide info, advice and Gameweek tips which may prove useful in ensuring you sit on top of your mini-leagues.
Best of the Bees
FPL managers entered and left Gameweek 35 talking about Brentford assets.
Bryan Mbeumo (£8.2m) was the most transferred in player ahead of Gameweek 35 and is currently the fourth-most transferred in ahead of Gameweek 36.
The Bees’ third win in a row in Gameweek 35 puts them one point behind eighth place in the chase for European qualification. This motivation increases their FPL appeal.
On Sunday afternoon, Kevin Schade (£5.1m) followed up his goal at Nottingham Forest with a brace against Manchester United.
He headed in a Christian Nørgaard (£4.8m) cross from close range, before nodding home an in-swinger from Mbeumo.
Mbeumo rewarded more than 450,000 managers who handed him the captain's armband with an assist.
Wissa was also on the scoresheet on Sunday, continuing his brilliant form with returns in eight of his last 10 Premier League matches. The Congolese striker has registered 68 points in that time.
Brentford play Ipswich who they beat 4-3 in the reverse fixture in Gameweek 9. There will be a lot of FPL interest in this fixture, not just for the players but also for those with their assistant manager chip active. Thomas Frank (£0.8m) has racked up 59 points in the last five matches.
The Spotlight
Meanwhile, this run of victories coincides with Michael Kayode’s (£4.5m) first three league starts since arriving on loan in January. The right-back was outstanding at the weekend.
Only one pass was misplaced, he completed nine dribbles and his long throws caused constant chaos.
One of them led to the Bees’ equaliser and would’ve been an attacking return, had it not gone down as a Luke Shaw (£4.9m) own goal. Shortly after, he set up Nørgaard’s assist.
In the second half, another long throw almost ended with a Wissa tap-in but, not to be deterred, Kayode’s feet successfully squared the ball for him in the 74th minute.
The 20-year-old brings a lot of forward-thinking to the table, alongside clean sheet potential. Journalists voted him as 2024’s Italian Golden Boy after helping Fiorentina reach last season’s UEFA Conference League final.
Best of the Rest
Alejandro Garnacho (£5.9m) set up Man United’s opener at the Gtech and scored a consolation goal. Throughout the league, his 12 points were only bettered by Schade’s 14.
Youri Tielemans (£5.5m) gave Aston Villa a 1-0 win the day after Kevin De Bruyne (£9.5m) did the same for Man City. Both reached a score of 11.
Meanwhile it was a low scoring FPL average this week of just 41 points. Only four gameweeks this season have seen a lower average score.
In Demand
De Bruyne’s 11-point return on Friday evening means he is currently the most-bought player ahead of Gameweek 36.
Almost 180,000 visionaries did so before last Friday and, with five successive league starts and an imminent trip to Southampton, even more will get on board.
Man City team-mate Joško Gvardiol (£6.4m) is next, as the FA Cup finalists still haven’t secured Champions League qualification and therefore remain competitive. The goalscoring defender has kept four clean sheets in six.
Brentford duo Mbeumo and Wissa both bagged a brace against Ipswich last time. Although in FPL one of the latter’s goals remains an FPL assist, as the strike was only credited to him three days later, once the Gameweek had already ended.
Captaincy
Beyond Mbeumo and Wissa, it’s tough to select a captain because of lot of teams will be facing their neighbours in the Premier League table.
However, managers with a Man City attacker versus Southampton could have the answer.
De Bruyne makes sense and, despite three recent blanks and not yet registering a return away from home, so does Omar Marmoush (£7.6m).
If there is any suggestion of Erling Haaland (£14.8m) starting against Southampton in Pep Guardiola’s press conference, many managers will likely look to him with the armband.
Those with Chris Wood (£7.0m) could be tempted given Nottingham Forest are at home to Leicester.
As for Newcastle’s Alexander Isak (£9.6m), recent displays have been quiet, but he’s still found a way to score three goals in four.
