Thomas Frank highlighted Josh Dasilva ahead of Brentford’s FA Cup third-round replay against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday night.

The midfielder made his long-awaited return from a hamstring injury against Wolves on 4 January and was involved in many of the Bees' brighter moments.

The only player from either side to supply an accurate through ball, Dasilva completed 29 of his 33 passes (88 per cent success rate) and played two key passes during the course of the cup tie, also topping the charts for successful dribbles (three) among Brentford players.

Dasilva fired in two shots (one on target) and did not concede possession before being replaced by Michael Olakigbe.

“The first game against Wolves we saw some good actions and what he’s capable of doing,” said Frank.

“I really hope that he can find some momentum and get back up to his high level.

“He has a very high ceiling: the way he finishes, the way he can go past players, the way he passes and what he sees. He plays at a very high level; he just needs that consistency.”

Brentford are also boosted by Kristoffer Ajer’s return. The defender hasn’t featured for the first team since late November due to a foot injury but got some valuable minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Brøndby on 13 January and could play at Molineux on Tuesday night.

Having served a three-match suspension, fellow defender Ben Mee is also available for selection.

Tuesday’s meeting with Wolves is the last game that the Bees must play without Ivan Toney, whose eight-month ban comes to an end on 17 January.

The striker - who Frank said is “like a new singing” – will train with a small group at the Robert Rowan Performance Centre on Tuesday in preparation for Saturday’s Premier League game against Nottingham Forest.
