RICHARD O'KELLY

Assistant Head Coach

Richard O'Kelly joined Brentford in November 2015, signing on as Dean Smith's Assistant Head Coach after the pair left Walsall.

A forward in his playing days, Richard made the majority of his appearances for Walsall. He also made several appearances for Port Vale and Grimsby Town. Forced to retire early due to injury, he took up coaching in 1989. He served as assistant manager at Hereford United, AFC Bournemouth and Doncaster Rovers before linking up with Dean Smith at Walsall. In 2012, he had a brief spell as manager of Hereford, and in 2013 he coached at Bristol City.

In 2015, Smith named O'Kelly as his assistant for their new job in West London. The pair guided Brentford to ninth and 10th respectively in their first two seasons in charge.
