Ivan was born in Northampton, and started his career at his home town club. At 16 years old, he became the youngest first team player in the club's history, when he made his first team debut in 2012. He scored 13 goals in 60 matches across all competitions, before he joined Newcastle United in 2015.

While at Newcastle, Ivan had successful loan spells at Barnsley, Shrewsbury Town, Scunthorpe United, and Wigan Athletic.

In 2018, Ivan signed for Peterborough United. During his time there, he was named both League One top scorer, and Player of the Season at the EFL awards for the 2019-20 season. Ivan was also Peterborough's record transfer fee when he signed for Brentford in 2020.

During his first season at Brentford, in which they were promoted to the Premier League, Ivan scored 31 goals, setting a new Championship record for most goals scored in a single season for 20/21. Ivan continued his goal scoring form in the 21/22 season, including scoring Brentford's first Premier League hat-trick in a vital 3-1 away victory over Norwich City.

Growing up, Ivan supported Liverpool. His favourite players, past and present, are Defoe, Berbatov, Aguero, and Balotelli. If he was not a professional football player, his dream job would be a firefighter. Ivan is inspired by his family. Off the field, he enjoys other sports, and listening to music. His favourite musical artist is Tory Lanez. His favourite video game is FIFA. Ivan enjoys watching Money Heist, and Queen of The South. His favourite food is chicken rice. In the future, Ivan wants to travel the world!
