Jürgen Klopp has been named the 2021/22 Barclays Manager of the Season. The Liverpool manager took his team to second in the Premier League in the season, which finished a few days ago, and could also take home three trophies. Brentford FC Head Coach Thomas Frank was nominated for the award but missed out in the final vote.

Pep Guardiola [Manchester City], Eddie Howe [Newcastle United], and Patrick Vieira [Crystal Palace] were also on the short list and lost out to Klopp. He wins the award for a second time, having also claimed it in 2019/20 after steering Liverpool to their first Premier League title. The 54-year-old won after votes from the public were combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide who would top a five-man shortlist.

As well as finishing second in the Premier League this season, losing out by a point to Manchester City, Klopp has taken Liverpool to three cup finals. The Reds beat Chelsea on penalties in the Carabao Cup Final and then repeated the trick in the Emirates FA Cup Final earlier this month. Liverpool face Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Final this coming Saturday, 28 May.

Although he did not win the award, Thomas has overseen a remarkable first season in the Premier League. Starting with our opening night victory over Arsenal, we have not been lower than 15th at any stage this campaign as we secured a second season in the top flight. The Bees ended the campaign in 13th place.

That is our best league position since 1938 and our fourth-highest finish of all time. This nomination is the latest in a string of accolades for Thomas this season which have included two LMA Performance of the Week prizes, a nomination for April's Barclays Manager of the Month, and a nomination for the Danish Coach of the Year.
