Earlier this month participants from Brentford FC Community Sports Trust's Communities Engagement Gunnersbury Park evening session had some special visitors. The young people had the chance to work with staff and musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

The session saw young people get to try a variety of musical instruments and have the chance to put their ideas forward for what should be included in the official anthem of the UEFA Women's European Championships, which is taking place this summer and is being partly hosted in our stadium. Participants, parents and staff all had the chance to try out the various instruments on show and were then invited to answer questions based on what football meant to them, what makes the sport special and why they think football is so popular around the world.

Graham Goodden, the Trust's Community Engagement Manager, said: “Having the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra attend one of our sessions was an incredible opportunity as it gave young people who may have never had the chance to pick up an instrument, try a large variety of them along with giving them the chance to be part of the Women’s Euros.”

This event targeted participants from our free football session that takes place every Friday night in Gunnersbury Park on the 3G pitches. The session which is funded by The Mayor’s Office for Policing And Crime (MOPAC) sees over 60 boys and girls make their way down to the pitches every Friday night to play football matches with other children from the local area Find out more about our community engagement project please email [email protected]
