Lachlan Brook’s Adelaide United confirmed a spot in the A-League Finals following a 2-0 win away at Brisbane Roar.
The youngster played 63 minutes in a match where the goals came on 15 minutes, through George Blackwood, and on 28 minutes through Hiroshi Ibusuki. The side’s Final game of the regular season sees them face Western United at home on Sunday. Carl Veart’s side cannot climb any higher in their table position, even if they win on Sunday. but they can confirm another home elimination final.
Staying overseas, there was 79 minutes of action for Mads Bidstrup in midfield for FC Nordsjælland. They drew 1-1 away at Viborg and it was the home side who went ahead on 78 minutes as Clint Leemans scored from the spot. Mads’ side then levelled six minutes from time through Daniel Svensson. The side will now look towards a fixture with OB at home on Sunday. Staying in Denmark, there was once again 90 minutes for Luka Racic as HB Køge kept up their excellent run of form with a 3-0 away win at Jammerbugt. The side will prepare for a home match with Esbjerg on Saturday.
In Turkey, Galatasaray were beaten 3-2 at home by Sivasspor. Two goals came from Bafétimbi Gomis but the away side claimed a winner on 64 minutes through Ahmet Oğuz. Halil Dervişoğlu played the second half in the match but was unable to help the side to victory. They are 13th in the league table and will look to bounce back away at Istanbul Basaksehir on Saturday.
It was another defeat in Spain for AD Alcorcón as they were beaten 1-0 at home by Girona. Joel Valencia played 60 minutes in the match from the start and his side will now look towards a match with Real Zaragoza on Sunday.
In England, Marcus Forss played the final 16 minutes in Hull City’s 5-0 defeat away at Bristol City in the Sky Bet Championship. Two goals came from Chris Martin and Andreas Weimann whilst Antoine Semenyo also got on the scoresheet as Bristol claimed the win by a convincing scoreline. Hull are 18th in the league table and they welcome Nottingham Forest on the final day of the season. As for Sheffield United, Charlie Goode wasn’t involved in the side’s 3-1 win away at QPR on Friday night. They actually fell behind on 31 minutes before three second half goals gave them the win. United are in the Play-Off places by two points and will face Fulham at home on the Final day.
The Sky Bet League One final day saw Ipswich Town round off their league campaign with a 4-0 win at home to Charlton Athletic. Two goals from Wes Burns, as well as strikes from Tyreeq Bakinson and James Norwood secured the victory. The side finish the season in 11th in the league table, and though Dom Thompson did not feature in the last match, he rounds off the 2021/22 campaign having played 17 times since arriving at Portman Road in January.
As for Ellery Balcombe’s Bromley in the National League, they claimed a 4-2 win at home to Chesterfield. Ellery played full 90 minutes and the side have a quick turnaround as they are back in action tonight away at Solihull Moors. The side currently sit 10th in the league table.
