A group of lucky Season Ticket Holders gathered together ahead of the Leeds United game at Brentford Community Stadium earlier this month to celebrate 75 years of supporting The Bees.

To commemorate the end of our first season since 1946/47 of being back in the top flight, Club Chair Cliff Crown reached out to Season Ticket Holders to trace as many fans as possible whose support dated back 75 years.

All of the supporters who advised that they were supporters back in 1946/47 will receive a commemorative certificate from the Club while a group of those amounting to 24 fans were drawn from a ballot to join Cliff ahead of the Leeds game for some pre-match hospitality in the Fortress lounge. Those fans also had the chance to meet Brentford Legends Andy McCulloch and Jackie Graham, with Chief Executive Jon Varney and several other Brentford Board Directors also joining them before the game.

The group then gathered on the balcony of the Fortress lounge for the highlight of the occasion when they were introduced over the tannoy by Peter Gilham and appeared on the giant screen as they were applauded by fans in the stadium.

Cliff Crown said: “It was wonderful to bring this group together at the Leeds game. This final match of the Premier League season was a perfect time to recognise those fans who were there at Griffin Park cheering us on in the old First Division 75 years ago.

“The group shared some amazing photos, scrapbooks and stories from the 1946/47 season, reminisced about matches and players from the years gone by and of course they were all thrilled to be looking ahead to another season of Premier League football.”
