Brentford Women's B Team made it three wins in four with a 5-0 victory over Tower Hamlets Women’s First Team in a Greater London Womens Football League Division One North fixture last Sunday. With a limited squad and goals from many players, they outplayed their opposition and stabilised their third-place position in the table. The Bees have one league match to play as the season draws to a close.

"We started the game really slow, but built-in all very quick second half and we made a game out of everything in the end," Brentford Women's B Team Head Coach Will Blithing said as he smiled, pleased with the result.

The game began with both teams attempting to make inroads and within the first few minutes Brentford earned a penalty when Chloe Logie was brought down. The Bees took the lead as the penalty was fired in to the bottom corner. The Bees gained momentum and began to force Tower Hamlets to scramble and push the ball out when given the chance. As Brentford squeezed up high, constant movement made it difficult for Tower Hamlets to get the ball.

After some good play in midfield, Chloe Logie was able chip the ball over the goalkeeper and give Brentford a 2-0 lead. The Bees showed more zeal in the second half, continuing to make it difficult for the opposition to gain momentum or create opportunities. When the opposition did get the ball, Brentford recovered quickly and ensured that their threats were not fulfilled.

As the chances created increased, one strike at goal bounced off the keeper and was quickly reacted to by substitute Karen Abou-Abdallah, who drove a low ball down the centre of the goal to make it 3-0. Callie Weaver made multiple attempts to take on players and shoot for a goal on the right wing. Despite the fact that she did not convert, her tenacity was noticed by everyone on the team, who continued to feed her.

There was a great run and finish from Lillie to make it 4-0 as she weaved through opposition defence and sent it home. Chloe Logie nearly secured a hat-trick as she finished off a cross but was adjudged offside. Cheyenne Faulkner did get the fifth goal just minutes before the game ended when a Brentford free-kick deflected off the wall and she volleyed the rebound straight into the net.

The next game for Brentford Women's B Team comes on Friday, 25 March. They have a Group Stage match in the Greater London Womens Football League Anniversary Trophy. They face Sutton United Under-23 at Bedfont Sports Ground in a match that will kick-off at 8pm. Entry is free for anyone who would like to attend.
