The final run in to the end of the season is coming up and Brentford play the first of eight games in seven weeks to conclude the season next week. The Bees have four derbies in four weeks and start with a trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea. The match will proceed games against West Ham United, Watford and Tottenham Hotspur and will kick-off at 3pm next Saturday, 2 April.

The Bees have four games in April and four in May to end their first Premier League season. They won two of three fixtures in March but ended the month with defeat to Leicester City a week ago. That followed victories over Norwich City and Burnley.

The Bees have 30 points from their first 30 Premier League matches and are 15th in the table. They have been in a similar position for most of 2022. Brentford are in a bunch of eight teams separated by just seven points and could find themselves in the top half of the table if they climb that group.

While off-pitch issues have surrounded Chelsea in recent weeks, on the field they have not played a Premier League match since beating Newcastle United two weeks ago. That was a fifth win in a row, after four without victory, and they sit third in the table. The West London side were top of the league for much of the autumn but are now ten points behind Liverpool, who are second, albeit Chelsea have a game in hand.

The Blues have had a busy campaign. They came in to the season as UEFA Champions League holders and won both the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA World Club Cup. They lost in the Carabao Cup Final to Liverpool after a lengthy penalty shoot-out, having beaten Brentford on the way, and are in the last four of the Emirates FA Cup and last eight of the Champions League.x

This will be the third meeting between the teams this season, the first at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea won the first Premier League meeting between the teams at our new stadium 1-0 and then won a Carabao Cup Quarter Final 2-0 in December. This will be the first league meeting between the teams at Stamford Bridge since the 1946/47 season. Before this season the ten league meetings between the times came in Division One in the 1930s and 40s. Brentford won four of those and Chelsea five. The sides have been drawn together in the FA Cup three times since with Chelsea progressing each time, lastly in 2017.
