The winner came late in the game, on 88 minutes, as Val Adedokun found the net to seal the side a place in the Final where they will take on Barnet FC.

It was a game that wasn’t littered with chances at either end but the young Bees controlled things throughout as they remained patient in possession. It took until eight minutes in for either goal to be threatened as Daniel Oyegoke, who was a constant threat down the right, put in a dangerous cross towards Ryan Trevitt, but for an important defensive clearance from Hampton.

Zach Dronfield then tried his luck following a corner but his effort was wide before Jaakko Oksanen went really close for the B Team as he whipped a free-kick into the box from a tight angle on the right. His left footed effort flashed across goal and forced the keeper into an important stop.

On 37 minutes, James Roberts then tried his luck following a Hampton counter-attack as the ball fell to him on the edge of the box, and his low effort from distance forced Ben Winterbottom into a smart save as he pushed round the post.

Brentford B started the second half brightly, though, when Trevitt and Dom Jefferies did well to keep the ball alive as they kept the ball up on the edge of the box before it found its way to Nathan Young-Coombes, and the move ended with Trevitt shooting low with his drive deflecting from a corner.

On the hour mark Trevitt was involved again as he turned and shot from the edge of the box with a half volley but it was straight at the goalkeeper, whilst Oksanen played a smart one-two with Young-Coombes before he was teed up by the forward but the midfielder shot over with his left foot.

Neil MacFarlane’s side’s best effort of the game so far then came on 79 minutes when good pressing from Myles Peart-Harris and Young-Coombes saw them snatch possession high before the forward drove in on goal and powered an effort towards the top corner, but for a really strong save from the keeper to deny him.

On 88 minutes, and with the chance of penalties looking more and more likely, the deadlock was finally broken. A short free-kick was played out to the left for substitute Adedokun, who looked up before curling an effort towards the far post which outwitted the keeper and ended up in the net to secure the side a place in the Final.
