The young Bees were in action on Tuesday evening where they beat National League South side Dartford in the Quarter-Final of the London Senior Cup. Ryan Trevitt and Nathan Young-Coombes grabbed the goals on the night in what was another impressive display from the young Bees.

That match followed what have been some very good performances from the B Team, despite them coming up against some very strong opposition. February saw them compete in the Atlantic Cup in Portugal against three first team opponents before they then headed out to AS Monaco where they were narrowly beaten 2-1.

Midfielder Roy Syla says The Bees can take confidence going into the match with The Saint considering recent performances. The youngster said: “With the way that we’re playing right now, the way we’re going, we should be full of confidence going into that game. Everyone is buzzing to be playing another game; we’re looking forward to it.”

The Opposition

Neil MacFarlane’s group will now ready themselves for a trip to the south coast where they will come up against a Saints B side who go into the match off the back of a 4-2 win over Nottingham Forest Under-23s at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday 26 February in Premier League 2.

The goals on the night came from Jayden Smith and Kazeem Olaigbe before Luke Pearce grabbed a double. Previous results for the side also saw them draw 2-2 in a south coast derby with Bournemouth, and they also beat West Bromwich Albion 1-0.

The side are fifth in the league table having picked up 29 points from 20 matches. Their next league fixture comes on Friday 11 March against Aston Villa.

In charge of Southampton’s B Team is Dave Horseman, who arrived at the club in August 2019 having worked at the likes of Bristol City and Watford. Dave was in charge of the Under-23 side upon his arrival in the 2019/20 season but now leads the B Team on the south coast.
