This time two years ago football was coming to the end of a three-month pause. The initial Covid-19 outbreak had taken place, competitive sport was on hold and the majority of the population of the UK was told to remain at home. A lot has happened since.

Brentford have played two a a quarter seasons in less than 24 months. The Bees have reached two Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Finals and played in the Premier League for the first time. Head Coach Thomas Frank had a lot to reflect on when he spoke to Jason Burt, Chief Football Correspondent of the Daily Telegraph, last month.

Thomas spoke to Jason after the end of Brentford's first Premier League season. The Bees finished 13th in the table a year after winning promotion. The Brentford Head Coach reflected on all that had happened in the past two years.

“Honestly it is incredible what we have achieved,” said Thomas. In a piece published a few days ago, the story of the past two years is told. Thomas reflects on individual games and moments and also looks ahead.

"I am extremely respectful of this league and it’s relentless and I am very aware that next season we can finish 20th or we can finish seventh," Thomas concluded. "I don’t see that if we do things well enough, that if we are not hit by injuries, if we keep our squad, if we manage to add players who can bring quality then why can’t we at least perform at the same level and develop things?"
