Brentford Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of midfield player Max Wilcox from 1 July 2022. Max has signed a one-year contract with an option of a further year after departing Bolton Wanderers.

The 18-year-old, who spent a period on trial with the young Bees last season, earned some game time and training experience with the side at Jersey Road. He will now become a part of Neil MacFarlane’s squad ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Max came through the ranks with Bolton and rose to the under-18 side where he went on to make an appearance in the FA Youth Cup against Millwall. He also featured for the side in the Youth Alliance North West League. The 2021/22 campaign saw Bolton finish fourth in their league having picked up 39 points from their 26 matches. Max will join the young Bees for pre-season as the side prepare for their first match against Salisbury FC on 9 July.

Discussing Max’s arrival, Brentford B Head Coach Neil MacFarlane said: “Max has a really strong character and we feel he will complement our group. He is a player who can continue to develop over time, and we know he has a fantastic desire to get better and better.

“As a player he can play multiple positions in midfield and he has the ability to attack and create opportunities for others in the team. We look forward to working with him over the course of the new season.”
