Update on our players in action with their countries yesterday

15 June 2022

It was three games and three wins for Brentford players in international action last night. A trio of Bees were involved in UEFA Nations League or UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification fixtures yesterday. All ended the evening happy.

Halil Dervişoğluplayed just over an hour for Turkey in a Nations League C Group One match against Lithuania. Turkey won the game 2-0 with both goals coming when Halil was on the pitch. It was Halil's 13th cap and he has six goals for his country. Turkey have won four out of four in their Nations League group and look set for promotion.

Mads Bidstrup was involved in a vital game for Denmark Under-21 last night. They beat Turkey 3-2 after falling behind early on. It was Mads' eighth game at Under-21 level for his country.

Denmark had already secured second place in Group I as they try to qualify for the Under-21 finals next summer. They will now go through a Play-Off for a place in the tournament as they finished as the third-best runner up. If they had scored three more goals in their eight Group I matches, they would have qualified automatically.

Fin Stevens played for Wales in their qualifying win over Gibraltar and earned his ninth Under-21 cap. Wales scored two first half goals to clinch victory. They finished fourth in their group so will not qualify for the tournament.
