Bees head to Boreham Wood in pre-season

Brentford to start friendly campaign in Hertfordshire

8 June 2022

Brentford’s first pre-season friendly ahead of their 2022/23 Premier League season will be against Boreham Wood. The Bees will travel to the Vanarama National League side on Saturday 9 July. The match will kick-off at 3pm in Hertfordshire and is four-and-a-half weeks away.

The Bees have been regular visitors to Boreham Wood over the past decade. We visited in pre-season in five out of six seasons up to 2018 and then again last year. Brentford won an FA Cup First Round tie at Boreham Wood in 2012 and then played friendly games in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018. The Bees also took a side to Hertfordshire for a friendly a year ago and won 2-0.

Boreham Wood have been in the National League, the top flight of non-league football, since 2015. They reached the National League Play-Off Final in 2018 after finishing fourth in the table, their best-ever finish. They also reached the Play-Offs in 2020. Boreham Wood finished ninth last season but had a magnificent run in the Emirates FA Cup. They beat AFC Wimbledon and AFC Bournemouth on the way to the Fifth Round, where they lost to Everton.

The game is one of five that The Bees will play in front of supporters ahead of the 2022/23 Premier League season. A game against VfL Wolfsburg will be played in Wolfsburg on Saturday 23 July. The Bees will also host Real Betis Balompié on Saturday 30 July.

Brentford will be in south-west Germany for a pre-season training camp from Tuesday 12 July until Tuesday 19 July and will play VfB Stuttgart on Saturday 16 July. It is planned there will be another game in the area on Tuesday 19 July. Information on other fixtures and ticketing will be announced when confirmed.
