Latest team news ahead of Liverpool …

Everyone should be available that was available for Southampton.

Sergi Canós trained today which is positive. Rico Henry is looking like a player who will be available for the weekend. I need to take a decision on how ready he is to start; he can be involved in the squad.

Charlie Goode and Zanka are progressing in the right direction. It’s still too early to talk about them being available in the next couple of weeks but they are progressing.

David Raya is doing very well. He is training with our goalkeeping coach on the grass now. Monday was his first day on the grass which is very positive. He had a meeting with a knee consultant on Thursday and that meeting was positive. Hopefully he will soon be joining in team training.

Pontus Jansson’s new contract …

Pontus has been a vital part of our rise over the last three years. He had two very good seasons in the Championship, and I think he’s done well in the Premier League. It is important that our captain wanted to extend his contract.

Bouncing back from Southampton …

Wednesday morning there was irritation. We hate losing, maybe even more when we perform badly. 24 hours is the maximum we can be disappointed or irritated, then we have to move forward. Life moves on. We had a fantastic training today with a very good intensity, quality, and focus. This is a squad that wants to improve and get better. We want to do our very best to get a win on Sunday.

Heading to Anfield …

It’s the first time that we are going to Anfield. We all know that it is one of the most iconic football stadiums in the world. We are all looking forward to that. We all want to go there, express ourselves, and attack. We want it to be fun and a good experience at both two o’clock and at four o’clock. It is not that fun if we go there and get beaten 4-0. It is only a fantastic experience if we go there and get a result. That is what we are aiming for.

Liverpool’s threats …

Sadio Mane and Mo Salah are two World Class players and have done fantastically for Liverpool. I still think they have very good players in Diogo Jota, Firmino, Takumi Minamino, and Curtis Jones. They will still be a top side. We know that it is going to be unbelievably difficult, but we will embrace the moment, try to attack, and win the game.

When Liverpool play their top game they are the most difficult team to defend against in spells. If they really have you then they are threatening you with in-swing crosses, crosses from a little bit outside the box, through balls, and, if you go a little bit higher, they play in behind. They attack with all kind of angles and with all kind of weapons. They are so good at that; the best I would say in the Premier League. That is why it is going to be a massive challenge.

Gameplan for Sunday …

We are a bit more flexible this year. I would like us to press high and aggressive, which we do most of the time, and I would like us to dominate as much as possible on the ball. However, when you play against some of the best teams in the world you need to tweak it a bit to be pragmatic to raise your chances to win. We thought if we went a little bit more direct against Liverpool that could raise the chances. I am sure that if we tried to build from behind constantly against one of the best pressing teams in the world then we would struggle and maybe lose 5-2. It would still have been a fantastic game which Jurgen Klopp would have liked a little bit more, but I wouldn’t have. I hope that one day we can go even more toe to toe. I thought we were incredibly brave that game; we pressed high and left space behind us, which they are great at exploiting. I thought we played a brilliant game against a World Class side.
