Our Aston Villa Hollywood Hero

Sam Edmonds welcomed to our new stadium on Sunday

5 January 2022

Our Principal Partner Hollywoodbets is proud to highlight and reward the great impact of companies and individuals in our local community with the initiative Hollywood Heroes. So far this seson, individuals and companies who worked with our Community Sports Trust have been chosen Hollywood Heroes. Chosen for his fantastic fund-raising work, Sam Edmonds was our Hollywood Hero against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Sam has raised nearly £3,000 for foodbanks in Hounslow. He took on the challenge of growing his hair for the last two years then, in early December, cut it all off to help raise money and awareness. This was in front of a packed pub audience. He didn’t stop there, also donating his hair to a cancer charity.

Sam’s dad, Ricky, said: “It all started during the first lockdown; it was difficult to pin down a time and date to have the haircut done. We even tried to get Sam to a barber as time went on, but he was adamant that his hair was being cut for charity.”

Sam said he would have been happy to raise £50, so to reach nearly £3,000 is an unbelievable achievement. Speaking about the attention he got after the event, Sam said he couldn't understand what all the fuss was about.

Ricky added: “I am a very proud dad and I am delighted that his efforts have been recognised in this way. Sam is a little legend who is always looking to help those around him. He chose the foodbank because it was a local cause.”

We would like to thank Sam for his great effort in such difficult times. For someone so young to have the drive and determination to help his community in this way is inspiring - he is a true Hollywood Hero.

Hollywood Heroes was launched in conjunction with Principal Partner Hollywoodbets to highlight and reward the positive impact of volunteers and individuals in our local community. Hollywoodbets have provided nominees with boardroom hospitality tickets to say ‘thank you’ for all the hard work they have put in. Housing provider A2Dominion and the Hounslow Community Foodbox have also been recognised this season.
