Three first half goals courtesy of Nathan Young-Coombes, Paris Maghoma and Myles Peart-Harris were added to by Lewis Gordon late on as the side once again impressed in what is now a seven match unbeaten run for Neil MacFarlane’s group.

The side lined up in a 3-4-3 formation with Max Haygarth and Ryan Trevitt playing high as wing backs and both players were key outlets for the side. Maghoma made his first start since returning from injury whilst Peart-Harris and Alex Gilbert lined up alongside Young-Coombes in the forward area.

It took until around 10 minutes for the young Bees to carve out their first real chance and it came when the impressive Haygarth floated a ball over the top to Young-Coombes but he was unable to bring the ball under control. The opener then came on 12 minutes as Haygarth crossed to the back post and Trevitt did wonderfully well to hook the ball back across goal, and though the ball may well have crossed the line through his effort, Young-Coombes was on hand to ensure the ball would find its way in as he helped himself to a 22nd goal of the season.

A couple of Hanwell balls into the box were the first real threat that Ben Winterbottom had to be alert to as a free-kick went over before a cross into the box just evaded one of the Town players as The Bees then looked to further their lead. Peart-Harris had his first real attempt when he tried to find the net with a low free-kick but he edged his effort just wide of goal.

On 30 minutes Gilbert made an important clearance off the line as Winterbottom made an initial close range save before the Hanwell forward tried to force an effort goalwards from the rebound but the Brentford man was alert to snuff out the danger to keep it at 1-0.

Five minutes before the break it became 2-0 to Brentford and the goal came in style. Wonderful midfield play saw the likes of Maghoma and Jefferies involved early on as they brought the ball forward. Maghoma continued his run and the Welsh midfielder clipped a delightful ball down the middle to find him before a clever one-two with Young-Coombes then saw him finish from close range to net his second goal for Brentford B.

The side were then able to really take the game away from Hanwell just a minute or so before half-time when a corner into the box saw Tristan Crama flick a header towards the far post and Peart-Harris stooped to nod home and make it 3-0.

The second half may not have had as many goals for The Bees but it certainly had the chances. The side went in search of more when Haygarth tricked inside before squaring for Peart-Harris and despite the ball getting away from the midfielder, Trevitt picked up the loose ball before firing over.

A chance then fell for Massimo Giammattei for the hosts and he powered an effort towards goal which forced Winterbottom into a really smart save as he pushed the ball away for a corner. More chances fell for Trevitt and Gilbert had a really good opportunity when he burst through the centre, and after the working the ball onto his right foot, he curled just wide of goal as the score remained 3-0 until going into the final 15.

Hanwell found the net on 75 minutes with a really good attempt as Ogo Obi turned well before firing an effort against the crossbar and it bounced down before Calum Duffy pounced to ensure the ball crossed the line as Town were dealt a lifeline.

Credit to the young Bees, though, who continued to play their football despite some aerial challenges where they had to battle to defend their lead. After conceding they managed to get back into their rhythm and the pace of substitute Val Adedokun proved a real handful for Hanwell in the closing stages as the Irishman whipped in some very dangerous deliveries which just evaded the Brentford bodies in the box.

Going into the final five minutes there was a short pause in play following floodlight issues but after a short break the match got back under way and The Bees got their fourth in the final minutes of the game. Gordon found himself in a forward position before playing a brilliant one-two with Trevitt before he slotted the ball past the keeper after following his pass.
