Match Preview: Maidenhead United v Brentford B

Young Bees in action tomorrow morning

10 January 2022

Brentford B play their first match of 2022 when they travel to take on Maidenhead United on Tuesday in an 11:30am kick-off.

The match, which will be played behind closed doors at York Road, will see the young Bees play their first fixture since 14 December when they beat an Oxford United XI 3-2 away from home.

The side have been back in training at Jersey Road in recent weeks and will be looking to continue where they left off last year with the side currently unbeaten in their last five matches.

About Maidenhead United

United currently sit 20th in the National League and were last in action on Saturday when they drew 1-1 away from home against Aldershot Town. Maidenhead took the lead on 45 minutes through Josh Kelly but Toby Edser levelled things not long after the hour mark. Their result prior to that was a 1-0 win over Bromley on home soil on 28 December.

In charge of Maidenhead is Alan Devonshire whose playing career saw him turn out for the likes West Ham, with whom he spent 14 years, before finishing his career with Watford. As a manager he arrived at Maidenhead in 2015 and has also been in charge of Braintree Town and Hampton & Richmond.

Last Time We Met

The young Bees played against Maidenhead twice last season in two entertaining fixtures. The last meeting saw the B Team impress with a 3-0 victory at York Road with Aaron Pressley netting twice whilst Max Haygarth also got on the scoresheet as the side netted all three goals within the first 20 minutes.

Team News

With Nathan Shepperd having departed recently on a permanent deal, Neil MacFarlane could call upon any of Matt Cox, Ben Winterbottom or Roco Rees in goal. Elsewhere with Alex Gilbert and Jaakko Oksanen back in the fold following their loans, both players could gain minutes for the young Bees. Nathan Young-Coombes will be looking to add to his 19 goals so far this season.
