Match Preview: Hanwell Town v Brentford B

Young Bees in Cup action this evening

18 January 2022

Brentford B are in Middlesex FA Senior Cup Quarter-Final action this evening as they take on Hanwell Town at the Powerday Stadium in a 7:45pm kick-off.

The young Bees have been on an impressive run of form as they sit unbeaten in their last six matches. Last time out they beat National League side Maidenhead United 5-1 with a Nathan Young-Coombes hat-trick and two goals from Jude Russell. To reach the Quarter-Finals, The Bees beat St Panteleimon away from home before netting 11 goals without reply at Broadfields United in late November.

The winner of the match will progress to the Semi-Final stage and will take on Hampton & Richmond Borough.

About Hanwell Town

Hanwell compete in the Isthmian League South Central Division and currently sit fifth in the table and have been in fine form of late. Since the turn of the year they have beaten Tooting & Mitcham United 2-0 away from home before they beat Staines Town 12-0 on the road. Their last fixture saw them beat Westfield 2-0 away from home and they will be looking to keep up their good form in the Middlesex Cup. Hanwell sealed themselves a spot in this stage of the competition with a 2-1 win away from home against Hendon FC in early November.

Ticket News

Tickets for the fixture are priced at £10 for Adults and £5 for concessions. Brentford season ticket holders can gain access for £5 entry.

Team News

Neil MacFarlane is likely to have a strong squad to choose from for the young Bees. Nathan Young-Coombes, who grabbed another goal on Monday in a win for a Brentford XI over Havant & Waterlooville, now sits on 21 goals for the season and he’ll be looking to add to his tally in this competition. Paris Maghoma could well earn more minutes after making his comeback from injury in the win over Maidenhead last week.

Last Time We Met

The sides last met in pre-season last season as Hanwell edged a five-goal thriller with a 3-2 win with Gustav Mogensen and Aaron Pressley netting the goals for the young Bees. The 2019/20 season saw the sides meet in this very competition as Neil MacFarlane’s side progressed from the first stage with a 4-2 win on penalties. The side battled back from 2-0 down and overcame going down to 10 men to win on spot kicks with Patrik Gunnarsson saving two in the shootout.

Last Time Out

Brentford B beat Maidenhead United 5-1 away from home on Tuesday last week. Take in the main moments from the game.
