Loan Round-Up: Lachlan Brook helps Adelaide United to late victory

Lachlan Brook played the second half as Adelaide United pulled off a stunning win away from home against Newcastle Jets at the weekend.

The side were actually trailing when Newcastle went ahead on the hour mark. Nestor Irankunda levelled things two minutes from time before a stoppage time winner from Hiroshi Ibusuki gave the side the points. Lachlan had a hand in the goal as he received the ball centrally and flicked out wide before Ibusuki found the net. Adelaide face Sydney FC on Thursday at home.

In Spain, Joel Valencia was introduced as a second half substitute for AD Alcorcón as he played the final 19 minutes against Leganes on Sunday. The side were beaten 1-0 away from home and sit bottom of the second tier in Spain. Next up for the team is Burgos way from home on Thursday.

In Turkey, Galatasaray and Halil Dervişoğlu were without a league match and they will look to return to winning ways against Alanyaspor this Sunday. Mads Bidstrup, who recently joined FC Nordsjælland, will have to wait until 14 February for his first taste of competitive minutes with the side as their league campaign restarts then against Helsingborg.

Focusing on England, there was a 90 minute debut for Dom Thompson as he featured for Ipswich Town in their 1-0 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday. Marvin Johnson grabbed the game’s only goal to take the three points at Hillsborough and Town, who are ninth in the table on 41 points, face Gillingham in the league next.

As for AFC Wimbledon, Aaron Pressley is still recovering from injury so missed the game. The Dons were most recently in action at the weekend against Shrewsbury Town at Plough Lane where they drew 1-1. Ayoub Assal put The Dons ahead before Daniel Udoh levelled 13 minutes into the second half as Wimbledon sit 20th in the table on 29 points. They take on Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night.
