Josh Dasilva makes return in behind closed doors match

Bees face Havant and Waterlooville

17 January 2022

Josh Dasilva played 45 minutes as Brentford beat Havant and Waterlooville in a behind closed doors friendly. The midfield player has not played since February due to a hip injury. He played the first half of a 2-1 win for The Bees.

Josh played as part of a midfield three along with Mathias Jensen and Saman Ghoddos as Brentford used the match to give some game time to those who have not started recent Premier League matches. Josh came close to opening the scoring with a trademark left footed curling effort from the edge of the penalty are. He was withdrawn at half time as per a pre-match plan.

Mads Bech, Yoane Wissa and Jensen also played 45 minutes while Ghoddos, Marcus Forss and goalkeeper Jonas Lössl were also involved. Fin Stevens, Mads Bidstrup and Dominic Thompson were among those who completed the full match. The wing backs played a key role in deciding the match.

Brentford took the lead when Forss was released in behind in the first half. He lofted a shot over the Havant goalkeeper, but his effort landed on top of the crossbar. Thompson was first to react to poke home from close range and give The Bees the lead.

The held that until half time but Havant equalised from the penalty spot. Brentford won the game with a well-worked goal in the second half. Stevens got on the end of a cross and nodded it back in to the danger area, Nathan Young-Coombes was waiting to pounce, rising to head home what proved to be the winning goal.

Brentford: Lössl (sub Cox); Bidstrup, Oyegoke, Bech (sub Gordon); Stevens, Dasilva (sub Crama), Jensen (sub Peart-Harris), Ghoddos (sub Gilbert), Thompson; Forss (sub Trevitt), Wissa (sub Young-Coombes)
