The young Bees were beaten 2-1 in their first match of the Atlantic Cup in Portugal and will face the Danish side on Tuesday at the Estadio Algarve in a 3pm kick-off.

“We have to get back to work in training and focus on the next game,” said the defender. “We have to start the game strongly in the way that we did in the second half on Tuesday and hopefully we can get a better result.

“It was a good game against a really good team (Breiðablik.) We had intensity throughout the game in a big stadium but we weren’t able to get the result.

“I think we deserved more, particularly for our second half performance. We had a lot of chances but sometimes this is football and it wasn’t our day. The first goal was a set piece and we’ve been working on them building up to the game which was frustrating.

“After the second goal we put in an unbelievable effort and created a lot of chances. I’ve got four goals this season and it was a really good corner from Alex and it was good to score again.”
