Simon Hooper to take charge of visit from Palace

Saturday's match officials have been confirmed

11 February 2022

We return to TW8 for the first time in three weeks for an all-London affair against Crystal Palace. August's meeting ended goalless at Selhurst Park and the match officials have now been chosen for tomorrow's return fixture.

Referee: Simon Hooper

Assistant Referees: Simon Long and Derek Eaton

Fourth Official: Robert Jones

VAR: John Brooks

Assistant VAR: Constantine Hatzidakis

Experienced Wiltshire referee, Simon Hooper, who tried to make it as a professional footballer in his youth, first took charge of games in the EFL back in 2008 and was appointed to the Select Group 1 of Premier League referees in the summer of 2018.

During that time he has taken charge of 22 Brentford games as both Hooper, and we, have worked our way up the divisions. Hooper's first game came in October 2008 away at Aldershot in League Two before seven Sky Bet League One assignments between 2009 and 2013 followed.

In the Sky Bet Championship, he was the man in charge for our unforgettable 4-1 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage in April 2015 and also refereed our 1-0 win at home to QPR in October of that same year.

This will be his third assignment this season, all of which have come at the Brentford Community Stadium. His first outing was our record-breaking Carabao Cup Third Round tie against Oldham Athletic. On that night, a third-minute penalty set us on our way to a 7-0 win, our biggest ever in the EFL Cup. He then took charge of October's game against Leicester City which saw The Foxes run out 2-1 winners.

This season, Hooper has taken charge of 19 matches across league and cup, showing 74 yellow cards and one red.
