Brentford goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe has joined National League high-flyers Bromley on loan for the rest of the season. The 22-year-old completed a move late last night. He will join the South East London side as they battle to win a place in the EFL.

It is a second loan spell of the season for Ellery. He spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Burton Albion and has also spent time with Doncaster Rovers, Boreham Wood and Viborg Fodsports Forening, in Denmark, in recent years. Ellery has also been named in the Brentford matchday squad twice in his time with The Bees.

Bromley are currently sitting in fourth in the Vanarama National League. They are a point behind leaders Stockport County, one of five sides at the top of the table separated by just two points. They have 19 games to play in three-and-a-half months as they look to secure promotion.

Thomas Frank, Brentford FC Head Coach, said: “Ellery is a goalkeeper that has a lot of talent. The best way for him to develop is to play regular games. This loan gives him the best chance of doing that and we hope he will be involved in high-pressure games between now and the end of the season. We wish him and Bromley all the best and believe he can help them have a good end to the season.”

Ellery has played 15 EFL games during his loan spells and a further eight in Denmark. He has also played in the Emirates FA Cup and Papa John’s Trophy, as well as a significant number of games for England’s youth teams. He joined The Bees as a seven-year-old and was part of the original Brentford B squad formed in 2016. He has represented England at every level between Under-18 and Under-21 and was part of the 2017 Toulon Tournament winning side. In total, he has 18 caps for the Young Lions across four age groups.
