More details have been released of the match dates for the upcoming 2022/23 season. The current 2021/22 campaign has just over a month left to run and Brentford have five Premier League games to play. But the next campaign will approach fast and the EFL confirmed last week details of its competitions.
It was announced late last year that Premier League fixtures will be released on Thursday 16 June. Details of the season schedule can be seen here. EFL fixtures will be released a week later, Thursday 23 June.
The season will pause at the end of this year for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, being played in Qatar. There will be no Premier League games after the weekend of 12-13 November. The call-up period for the tournament begins on Monday 14 November. League matches will resume on Boxing Day. This will be eight days after the FIFA World Cup Final, which takes place on Sunday 18 December 2022.
The EFL have also confirmed details of the Carabao Cup. The first two rounds will be played in August with the Third Round in week commencing Monday 9 November. The Fourth Round will be played on the week commencing Monday 19 December, before the resumption of the Premier League. Some of the confirmed details of the EFL season can be seen here.
