The young Bees will head out to Spain for a short period of training before coming up against the side who play in the Segunda División, and it will be another fantastic test for Neil MacFarlane's young group. The match precedes the side's participation in the Final of the London Senior Cup on Tuesday 26 April.
FC Cartagena currently occupy ninth in their league table having collected 49 points from 36 matches. They were last in action on Saturday when they beat AD Alcorcón, Joel Valencia's current loan club, 3-1 at home with two goals from Pablo de Lassis either side of Alfredo Ortuño's goal.
The sides actually met back in the 2019/20 season whilst The Bees were on a five-day trip to La Manga. Having beaten Albacete Under-19s, the B Team then played Cartagena where they were narrowly beaten 3-2. The Bees fell behind to a Jose Angel goal but levelled shortly after through Japhet Sery Larsen. Angel got his second of the game just moments later and the Spanish side added another in the second period through Jovanovic. Gustav Mogensen then grabbed Brentford’s second but they were unable to find a third to level things.
If any Brentford supporters are in the local area on Thursday next week, entry to the match is free of charge.
