Wissa Wonderstrike Wins Carabao Cup Goal of the Round vote

Bees attacker takes prize for Oldham Athletic effort

30 September 2021

Yoane Wissa's moment of magic against Oldham Athletic has been chosen as the Goal of the Round Three in this season's Carabao Cup.

The 25-year-old beat off Phil Foden, Eddie Nketiah, Kyle Vassell, and Kelechi Iheanacho to take the weekend's fan vote. It's the second year running that a Brentford bicycle-kick has been voted the Goal of Round Three following Emiliano Marcondes effort against West Bromwich Albion 12 months ago.

The goal put the final exclamation mark on Wissa's personal performance, which included two goals and an assist, and the team performance as we ran up a seven goal win, our biggest ever in the EFL Cup.

It's been a fine nine days for our summer arrival from FC Lorient. Not only did he get his brace against The Latics but he also netted the late Premier League equaliser against Liverpool on Saturday evening before earning a call-up to the DR Congo squad for October's two 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Madagascar.
