This is Darren England's second season as one of the Select Group 1 of Premier League referees, having spent many years in the professional game as a linesman, including running the line for the 2015 FA Cup Final between Aston Villa and Arsenal.

The South Yorkshire official has taken 13 Premier League matches so far, 11 of them coming last season, and was the VAR for last Sunday's game between Liverpool and Leeds United which saw Pascal Struijk dismissed for a challenge on Harvey Elliott.

We've only lost once in England's eight previous matches in charge, all but one of which have come in the Sky Bet Championship.

There was a 3-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers and a 3-3 draw with Sunderland during the 2017/18 season and a 2-0 success over Wigan Athletic in September 2018 before a win, at home to Preston North End, a draw, at home to Hull City, and a loss, away at Luton Town, during the 2019/20 campaign.

Last season's first outing came in the Carabao Cup Third Round against West Bromwich Albion. England awarded three spot kicks in regulation time, one for us and two for The Baggies, as we went on to win 5-4 on penalties following a 2-2 draw. He then took charge of April's 1-1 draw at home to Cardiff City which saw The Bluebirds net from the spot.

England has only taken charge of one game so far this term, showing six yellow cards in a 2-2 Premier League draw between Leeds United and Everton back in August.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 2021/22
