The Carabao Cup takes centre stage this midweek with us hosting Sky Bet League Two side Oldham Athletic at the Brentford Community Stadium on Tuesday night. The Latics are in Round Three for the first time since 2002 while we are looking to make the Last 16 for the second year running. The match officials for tomorrow night's clash have now been confirmed.
Referee: Simon Hooper
Assistant Referees: Daniel Robathan and Robert Hyde
Fourth Official: Tom Nield
The experienced Wiltshire referee, who tried to make it as a professional footballer in his youth, first took charge of games in the EFL back in 2008 and was appointed to the Select Group 1 of Premier League referees in the summer of 2018.
During that time he has taken charge of 20 Brentford games as both Hooper, and us, have worked our way up the divisions. Hooper's first game came in October 2008 away at Aldershot in League Two before seven Sky Bet League One assignments between 2009 and 2013 followed.
In the Sky Bet Championship, he was the man in charge for our unforgettable 4-1 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage in April 2015 and also refereed our 1-0 win at home to QPR in October of that same year.
Most recently he was in charge of our 2-2 draw at Cardiff in February 2020, taking our tally in games he has officiated to six wins, five draws, and nine defeats.
This season, Mr Hooper has only taken charge of one Sky Bet League Two game between Sutton United and Hartlepool, during which he showed five yellow cards.
