Brentford have taken five points from their first four Premier League games and continue their season with a match against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Bees were beaten by Brighton and Hove Albion yesterday, Saturday 11 September, suffering their first reverse of the season. The trip to Wolves will come next Saturday, 18 September, in a match that will kick-off at 12.30pm and be broadcast live on BT Sport.

The defeat to Brighton came after an opening day win over Arsenal and consecutive away draws against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa. The Bees still sit in the top half of the top flight, a point behind Leicester City and above Palace on goal difference. Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool lead the way, having all taken ten points from their first four games with a goal difference of eight. Everton can join them on ten points if they beat Burnley tomorrow.

Wolves got their first win of the season yesterday. They beat Watford 2-0 away from home after suffering three straight losses. Those defeats had come against Leicester, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United and had all been 1-0. They also beat Nottingham Forest in a Carabao Cup tie.

Wolves are 13th in the table at present and will go above The Bees if they win next week. This is their fourth season back in the Premier League, after winning promotion in 2018. They recorded successive seventh-place finishes after promotion and ended the last campaign in 13th.

Wolves beat Brentford 3-0 at home on their way to promotion in 2018 and the reverse game ended 0-0. That was the fifth straight season the teams had done battle, including the 2013/14 campaign when The Bees won promotion from League One, finishing second behind champions Wolves. In those ten games Brentford won three and lost five with two 0-0 draws.
