Match Preview: Hampton & Richmond v Brentford B

Young Bees in action this evening

22 September 2021

Brentford B will take on Hampton & Richmond Borough FC in a 7pm kick-off at the Beveree Stadium this evening.

Neil MacFarlane’s side will be looking to build on their 3-1 victory last time out over Queens Park Rangers B as they make the short trip to take on the National League South side.

The Opponents

Hampton & Richmond are currently eighth in their division having claimed eight points from their first six matches. Their 2020/21 campaign was curtailed early due to the Covid-19 pandemic and they come into this match off the back of a Second Round Qualifying Emirates FA Cup victory over Walton Casuals.

Their league season recently saw them navigate their way past Ebbsfleet United 3-0 with goals from Ruaridh Donaldson, Jerome Slew and Kyron Farrell. Prior to that they drew 1-1 away from home against Tonbridge Angels whilst August saw them draw with Maidstone United and lose to Concord Rangers. They won their opening day fixture with a 5-0 away win at Eastbourne Borough.

In charge of Hampton & Richmond is Gary McCann, who was formerly manager of Hendon FC and spent 13 years there. He arrived with the Beavers in June 2018 and has already reached a number of milestones at the club having achieved more FA Cup First Rounds than any manager in Hampton’s history. He signed a new three-year deal in the summer of 2021 and he currently takes charge of the club during its centenary season.

Team News

Neil MacFarlane will have a strong group available for the match with striker Nathan Young-Coombes eager to get more goals after netting twice against QPR. Lachlan Brook will also aim to get back on the scoresheet whilst the young Bees could welcome back Joe Adams into the match day squad. Val Adedokun, who started his first match last time out, will be pushing for more minutes too.
