Marcus Forss has retained his spot in Finland's squad for their upcoming two FIFA 2022 World Cup Qualifiers in Group D.
It could be a pivotal week in the Group with Finland one of four sides covered by just two points, all chasing a Play-Off place. Eight of the 12 matches in the group so far have ended in draws with Finland the only side other than France to win a game.
Next Saturday sees The Finns host Ukraine at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium, kick-off 5pm. Both sides are tied on five points, Ukraine's points coming from five straight draws, but Marcus and his teammates have played one game fewer. Then on Tuesday, Markku Kanerva's side make the long trip to the Astana Arena to take on Kazakhstan, kick-off 3pm.
The 22-year-old has been named in Finland's five most recent squads, making nine appearances. He scored on his international debut against France last November and was a part of the Eagle-Owls Euro 2020 squad, coming off the bench twice in the group stages.
Marcus is our top scorer so far this season with five goals, all in the Carabao Cup. Four of those came on a record-breaking evening last Tuesday against Oldham Athletic where Marcus netted our first-ever EFL Cup hat-trick and became the first player since November 2011 to score four times in a match for Brentford.
In total, Marcus now has 18 goals in 65 games since making his debut in August 2018.
