Aaron Pressley grabbed two goals for AFC Wimbledon in the Papa John’s Trophy whilst Alex Gilbert earned his first start for Swindon Town as they beat Arsenal Under-21s in the same competition.

Starting with Aaron, he netted twice in a 5-3 win over Portsmouth. The young forward played the full match and Wimbledon went 2-0 ahead when Aaron slotted home to add to Paul Kalambiyi’s early goal. Portsmouth struck back and actually went in front to make it 3-2 after an Ellis Harrison hat-trick. Aaron levelled things on 80 minutes to grab his third goal since joining on loan- this time with a penalty kick. Will Nightingale then put The Dons back ahead on 87 minutes before Luke McCormick grabbed a very late goal to confirm the win in stoppage time. Next up for Aaron and his Wimbledon teammates is a long trip to Morecambe.

As for Alex, he helped Swindon to a 2-1 win over Arsenal Under-21s at The County Ground. Alex played just over an hour and it was the home side tho took the lead through Mohammed Dabre’s goal, but that was cancelled out by Arsenal’s Joel Ideho. The Swindon winner then came courtesy of Dion Conroy. Next up for Town is a home match with Port Vale on Saturday where Alex will aim for more minutes.

There was also a 0-0 draw on Monday evening for Burton Albion against Bolton Wanderers in Sky Bet League One with Ellery Balcombe and an unsued substitute on the night.

This weekend could see Jaakko Oksanen earn a debut for Greenock Morton. Halil Dervişoğlu could return from international duty to face Trabzonspor for Galatasaray. Patrik Gunnarsson could also feature for Viking Stavanger as they take on Stabæk Fotball.
