A write up of an interview conducted with Brentford FC Chief Executive Jon Varney for the SportsPro podcast has been published. SportsPro is an international media company for the sports industry in print, digital and events. Jon spoke to Eoin Connolly, SportsPro editor at large, in late August.

Their digital and social platforms offer a showcase of features, interviews and pieces from their print magazine and Jon's interview has been turned in to a written piece. The feature touches upon aspects of the podcast interview, including the strategy behind Brentford B and moving to a new stadium while fans could not enter football grounds due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Jon explained that it was not just one thing that had got Brentford to this point.

“For us,” he said, “it’s not about one thing that makes all the difference. We want to make lots of good small decisions, you know, that that's what kind of runs throughout the organisation and if you keep improving the small things, then the overall project becomes much stronger. And, you know, it’s about focus. And it’s about taking calculated risks.

“We just want to keep improving. That's what we want to do as an organisation, but mindful that we are in the most competitive league in the world now. “And we know nothing is a given, we know that we're going to have to work hard for every point, we're going to have to work hard for every partnership. And we're going to have to work hard to keep our fans and community engaged. So, yeah, we’ll just keep doing everything a bit better, year on year.”
