Brentford have been drawn to play Stoke City in the Carabao Cup Fourth Round. The Bees will travel to the Midlands for the match in the last 16 of the competition. The tie will be played on the week commencing Monday 25 October.

This will be Brentford's fourth-ever EFL Cup Fourth Round tie. The Bees lost the first two but beat Fulham at this stage last year in a run that took them to the Semi-Finals. They eventually lost to Tottenham Hotspur at that stage.

Tottenham also ended Stoke's run in the competition last season, beating them at the Fifth Round stage. The Potters have a decent recent record in this competition, having reached the Semi-Finals once and the last eight twice in the last eight seasons. They have also reached the final twice in the early years of the tournament, winning it once.

Stoke won at Watford last night to reach this stage. They had previously beaten Fleetwood and Doncaster Rovers in the first two rounds. They currently sit fifth in the Championship, with four wins from eight games.

Brentford recorded their biggest ever EFL Cup win as they knocked Oldham Athletic out last night. Marcus Forss scored four as The Bees won 7-0. Brentford beat Forest Green Rovers in the Second Round, having entered at that stage.

The last match between the teams took place in February. Brentford came from a goal down at half time to win 2-1 with Vitaly Janelt and Ivan Toney on the score sheet. The teams spent three seasons together in the Championship with Brentford winning two of the six meetings, Stoke winning two and two finishing level. The last cup meeting was in January 2020 when Brentford won 1-0 in an FA Cup tie thanks to an Emiliano Marcondes goal.

Full details of when the tie will be played will follow in due course. Brentford fans are reminded that we play Leicester City on Sunday 24 October in the Premier League. Ticket information will follow when confirmed.
