Following from our recent report on the Brentford Veterans Team at the WorldNET tournament – for supporters teams – Brentford also had a team in the regular competition, open to all age groups. The Brentford "Hey Jude" team are pictured here on Day One of the tournament held at Nottingham University Sports Ground.

Games at WorldNET are of 30 minutes duration. Day one is a series of group games and day two is straight to knock out.

In the first game over the weekend Brentford lost narrowly 1-0 to Watford in a tight game, which included a fine penalty save Cameron Duke. In the second game the team benefitted from a tactical switch to 4-3-3 and a fluid passing performance led to an impressive 3-1 victory over Grimsby – goals from Harish Puri and two from Eduardo Loureiro. In the final group game the team lost 4-1 to a strong AFC Wimbledon team; Brentford's goal coming Harish Puri.

On the second day the teams are divided into a regular competition for those who finished in the top half of the tables or the Plate competition for those teams who finished lower in their tables. Brentford "Hey Jude" qualified for the main competition. With numbers depleted due to injuries the Bees were always up against it and bowed in the first round, losing 2-0 to a strong Bury team.

The competition was won by West Bromwich Albion who defeated Watford 3-2 in the final.

The team intend to play a number of fixtures throughout the coming season – if you would be interested in playing, please contact them via Twitter @HeyJudeFC_2020.
