Starting in Scotland, there was five minutes of game time for Mads Bidstrup as his Denmark side battle to a 1-0 win over Scotland at Tynecastle.

The only goal of the game came from Gustav Isaksen on 13 minutes as his effort found the bottom corner. After their first two matches Denmark sit second in their group but level on points with top place Belgium. Another away trip is ahead of them as they take on the Belgians on Tuesday.

There was also a positive evening for Jan Žambůrek as he made his first start for Czech Republic's Under-21s. They claimed a 1-0 win away against Kosovo. Adam Gabriel grabbed the game’s only goal on 38 minutes as the side maintained their perfect start to their UEFA 2023 European Championship Qualifying having won all three of their matches. Next up is the reverse fixture against Kosovo on Tuesday 12 October.

There was also youth action in Chesterfield as England Under-20s welcomed Italy in a friendly fixture and Brentford B's Matthew Cox was an unused substitute on the night. The Italians took the lead through Daniel Maldini’s header following a counter-attack but the Young Lions levelled four minutes before half-time when Lewis Bate fired home with his left foot as the match finished in a draw. England created some positive chances, but for a fine display from the Italian goalkeeper. Matthew, who earned his first call-up to the Under-20 squad for this international period, will head to Czech Republic for the side’s second game on Monday.
