4 October 2021

Another weekend brought lots of action for our players currently out on loan with varied experiences for the players involved.

Starting in the Football League, Aaron Pressley’s AFC Wimbledon came up against Ellery Balcombe’s Burton Albion at Plough Lane. Aaron played the full 90 minutes and assisted a late equaliser for The Dons whilst Ellery was an unused substitute for Burton. Kane Hemmings put Albion on front on 66 minutes before the London side fired in a late equaliser when Aaron’s flick on found Luke McCormick who fired home. The side are 14th in League One and they are without a game at the weekend due to the international break.

In League Two, Alex Gilbert played 55 minutes in a 3-1 away win at Bristol Rovers.Harry Anderson put the home side ahead but Town hit back with three second half goals. Jack Payne hit the equaliser before Ben Gladwin and Harry McKirdy both struck late to confirm the win. The side are fifth in the table and travel to Forest Green Rovers on Saturday.

Staying in the UK, Jaakko Oksanen played another 90 minutes for Greenock Morton in their 2-2 home draw with Arbroath. The away side took the lead when Colin Hamilton found the net just before the break. Gary Oliver levelled things just after half-time before Cameron Blues put Morton ahead on 55 minutes. They were denied a victory late when Michael McKenna scored from the spot three minutes from time. The side are now ninth in the table.

Further afield there was a win for Halil Dervişoğlu and his Galatasaray side as they left it very late. They claimed a 3-2 win at Rizespor with the winner coming from Olimpiu Morutan in the eleventh minute of added time to put the side eighth in the league table. Halil played the second half for the Turkish giants.

Finally there was disappointment for Patrik Gunnarsson as he was sent off on 18 minutes for Viking FK in their 2-1 win over Sandefjord. The youngster was quick off his line but collided with Kristoffer Normann Hansen. The Viking goals came courtesy of Veton Berisha as they side now sit fifth in the league table.
