Ellery Balcombe unused sub as Burton beaten by Plymouth

The action for our loan players this weekend

11 October 2021

The break for the latest round of international fixtures meant that Ellery Balcombe was the only one of our loanees to have a match this weekend.

Ellery was part of the Burton Albion squad that made the trip to Plymouth Argyle in Sky Bet League One. The 21-year-old was named on the bench as Argyle took a two-goal lead into the break; Conor Grant and Ryan Broom the scorers. Lucas Akins pulled one back on the hour but Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's side couldn't find a leveller as they fell to a fourth defeat of the campaign.

The Brewers are currently tenth in the third tier, three points outside the Play-Offs and seven points off Plymouth who moved top of the table with the victory.

Burton are next in action on Friday night at home to Morecambe.

This weekend will see our remaining loanees return to action. In Sky Bet League One, Aaron Pressley and AFC Wimbledon host Sheffield Wednesday while Alex Gilbert's Swindon Town welcome Rochdale to the County Ground in Sky Bet League Two. In the Scottish Championship, Jaakko Oksanen returns to Greenock Morton for a trip to Inverness Caledonian Thistle while Halil Dervişoğlu and Galatasaray are at home to Konyaspor in the Super Lig.

Patrik Gunnarsson will serve his one-match suspension for Viking FK's trip to Strømsgodset Toppfotball in the Eliteserien.
