Wing back speaks to The Sun ahead of Leicester clash

24 October 2021

Sergi Canós has discussed an upcoming reunion ahead of Brentford's match against Leicester City. When Sergi first came to England to join Liverpool, the Merseyside outfit were managed by Brendan Rodgers. Rodgers is now in charge of Leicester, who Brentford face later today and Sergi spoke to The Sun about the match and his former boss.

“Brendan had a very good impact at Liverpool," said Sergi, in an interview with The Sun, which was published yesterday. “He wanted a lot of academy players training with him regularly. He was really good with us. He gave us hope, if you worked hard like Raheem Sterling did you would get your chances.

“I’m not surprised about what he has now done at Leicester. The way he likes to play is how football now is. He was revolutionary in that respect. Ahead of his time."

Leicester come to Brentford as holders of the Emirates FA Cup and having finished in the top five in the Premier League for two seasons in a row. They are 12th in the table ahead of the match, a point and a place behind The Bees. They have also reached the Fourth Round of the Carabao Cup and have four points from three Europa League matches.

In the piece Sergi discusses Brentford's start to the season and how The Bees have prepared for the campaign. He also talks about leaving Liverpool and how that tested his relationship with his grandfather. Read it here.
