Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Bishnu Gurung, and Councillor Munir Ahmed, Mayor of Ealing were present to officially open Gunnersbury Park’s new sports hub late last month. The new sports hub is a collaboration between Ealing and Hounslow Councils and involves Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, University of West London, the London International School and local leisure provider Better. The facilities, which were officially opened on Wednesday 22 September, include two top-level, floodlit 3G artificial pitches, as well as grass pitches, also suitable for rugby and cricket, plus an eight-team changing pavilion; a gym; a studio; and a sports hall, ideal for indoor sports.

Lee Doyle CEO of Brentford FC Community Sports Trust said: “It has been a longstanding ambition of the Trust to help regenerate Gunnersbury Park’s sports facilities, so it is fantastic to see the project progress. We will offer a comprehensive range of opportunities for all ages and abilities, including an education programme linked to sport. Inspiring facilities coupled with coaches, volunteers and management staff across all project partners present a brilliant opportunity for surrounding communities to become actively involved”

The Sports Hub is being utilised by all of the Trust's departments, highlighting their mission of realising potential and providing opportunities to everyone. Sessions including Mini Bees and Tumble Bees take place weekly. More on the provision at Gunnersbury Park can be seen on the Trust website here. Read about the hub here.
