Frank Onyeka has earned a recall to the Nigeria squad for two 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against the Central African Republic next weekend.
The 23-year-old midfielder made his Super Eagles debut last October against Algeria and is now back in Gernot Rohr's selection. Nigeria host Central African Republic at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, on Thursday, 7 October, kick-off 5pm, before heading to Douala, Cameroon, the current home of the Central African Republic, on Sunday 10 October, kick-off 2pm.
After winning their opening two matches, a pair of victories over Group C's bottom side would all-but guarantee Nigeria's passage through to the third, and final, round of qualifying. There they would face one of the nine other group winners in a two-legged Play-Off for one of the CAF's five spaces in Qatar 2022.
Frank joined The Bees in the summer from FC Midtjylland and has featured in all-but one of our fixtures so far this term. The fan-favourite missed our draw at Aston Villa due to Covid-19 but has started three Premier League games, coming off the bench in the other two. In the Carabao Cup, he was a second-half substitute against Forest Green Rovers before playing 71 minutes of our record-breaking victory over Oldham Athletic last midweek.
