Head Coach Karleigh Osborne has been pleased with the overall performances so far but believes his team still have more to give and said: “I’m pleased with the performances, but I still think there is more from us to come. I think we’ve settled into the league now and the girls have realised they deserve to be where they are. As I say, I still think there is another level or two to go, so I’m looking forward to pushing that and continuing to watch us grow as a team.”

In the first half both sides struggled to create any real chances of note. The Bees were looking dangerous from wide positions but lacked that cutting edge with the final ball. Whereas Sutton were largely limited to shots from distance which never really troubled Emily Boycott in the Brentford goal.

After the break, it was the home side who had more impetus in their play and were pressing Brentford high up the pitch, not allowing them anytime on the ball. This led to a lot of territory gained by Sutton United, however they lacked the quality to breach a resolute Brentford defence.

The big positive for Brentford is that they gained their first clean sheet of the season. They were also missing some key players, most notably captain Mollie Holmes in the centre of midfield, this allowed Jasmine King to make the step up from the B Team and new signing Ashleigh Harvie to make her debut at left back.

Karleigh was pleased with both debutants and said: “Ashleigh was brilliant, her debut was fantastic. She’s not been with us long; she’s only been signed for a week after training with us for a couple of weeks. On the day she was incredible defensively and worked her socks off, she fitted right in which is a real plus. Young Jasmine came on and made the step up brilliantly, especially considering it was her debut. She came on for half an hour and played with no fear which was brilliant. I was really pleased for her.”
