After a two weeks without a match, Brentford FC Women’s B Team met with Camden Town Blues, and unfortunately bore their first loss of the season after a tough game. The away side took the lead in the first half, putting up a stern challenge for the women. Although The Bees pulled one back in the last minutes of the game, it wasn’t enough to get any points as they lost the game 2-1.

Right from kick-off Brentford were active in attacking the opposition, with Kacy hitting a shot wide early on. However, a lapse in midfield gave room for the Camden Town Blues to return the attack. The visitors took the lead in the first ten minutes, with Louise Clarke hitting the back of the net.

Camden Town Blues gained control of possession and Brentford were forced to chase the ball around the pitch, with the opposition missing a couple of opportunities. However, through great teamwork, Brentford were able to respond with efforts of their own. Forward Jasmine Williams went closest, but was unable to beat the opposition’s goalkeeper.

A half time chat woke The Bees up, and they started the second half with great attacking intent. They were finding their way through to the box and pressing the opposition. Unfortunately, the Camden Town Blues grabbed the next goal as a cross was put into the top corner by Amirah Houry, putting Camden 2-0 up.

Brentford managed to push through a tough Camden defence after multiple attempts in the final minutes and got a goal, driven into the back of the net by Ogechi Anokwuru, making it 2-1. The goal lifted spirits and The Bees kept charging but the game ended 2-1. It was a loss for the Bees but they kept buzzing.

Tommy Ryan-Maynard, Brentford Women B Assistant Head Coach, said: "We were disappointed that we never got into our rhythm and it felt like we lacked fight on the pitch but we definitely played much better in the second half. There were great performances from Cheyenne Faulkner, Charlotte Halpin, who debuted for the team, Sophie Boycott and Jasmine Williamson. Jasmine was named Brentford’s player of the match for her consistent play up top."
