Football in the UK will once again come together to wear poppy-branded shirts in matches played in the lead-up to this year’s Remembrance weekend. Brentford will be wearing shirts with poppies in our next two matches. This will also form part of a fund-raising initiative over the next few weeks.

Our yellow away kit will feature the poppy tomorrow, Saturday 30 October, when we face Burnley. We will also have a poppy on our red and white home shirts when we play Norwich City next Saturday, 6 November. The match-worn shirts are made available to purchase in a live auction straight from kick-off, with proceeds going to The Royal British Legion.

You can get involved by going to matchwornshirt.co.uk/club/brentford. All shirts will be personally signed by the players after the game. Once the auction ends the shirts will be professionally disinfected – whilst maintaining the match-worn elements – before being shipped out to the winner.

The red poppy is a symbol of both Remembrance and hope for a peaceful future. Since it was first worn as an act of Remembrance 100 years ago, the poppy has become an enduring symbol of support for our Armed Forces, past and present. This year marks the centenary of the Royal British Legion. Throughout history the British Armed Forces have defended freedom and democracy, and in the RBL’s 100th year we remember their service and sacrifice.

To celebrate this milestone, fans will have the opportunity to bid on an additional range of exclusive prizes that have been kindly made available by The Royal British Legion’s partners and ambassadors. Interested? Simply head over to matchwornshirt.co.uk/poppy.

The Royal British Legion relies solely on the support of the public in order to provide lifelong support for both serving and ex-serving personnel and their families. Their lobbying and campaigning gives the Armed forces community a voice, championing their interests to try and affect positive change. You can go to britishlegion.org.uk to find out more about the RBL and how your contribution will have an impact.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to own a piece of history whilst supporting The Royal British Legion’s vital work and remember – every poppy counts.
