Brentford FC Black History Month panel event

Join our panel of former players next week

A panel of former Brentford FC players will be speaking about their experiences at an event later this month. The panel includes players that have played for The Bees over the past four decades. It has been set up mark Black History Month, which is celebrated every October.

The panel compromises Francis Joseph, Marcus Gayle, Marcus Bean and Salma Mahamud. The event will be held next Monday, 18 October, at the London Museum of Water and Steam, in Green Dragon Lane, Brentford. Deji Davies, one of the Club’s Independent Non-Executive Directors, will host the panel.

The event will run from 6.30pm until 9pm next Monday and fans are invited to attend. There will be a limited number of spaces available for those who want to come. To request a place please book brentfordfc.com/bhm. If the event is oversubscribed, Season Ticket Holders and My Bees Members will be given priority.

Those that attend will hear from four people who have played for the Club over the past 40 years. Francis Joseph arrived at Brentford in 1982 and scored 56 goals in five years with The Bees. Marcus Bean was part of the Brentford team that won the League Two Championship in 2008/09 and made 168 appearances for The Bees in four years in our part of West London.

Marcus Gayle’s association with Brentford goes back around 35 years from when he joined as a schoolboy. He played 232 times for The Bees in two spells, is in our Hall of Fame and is now a Club Ambassador. Salma Mahmud is a member of our Brentford Women’s B Team and plays in defence. The 19-year-old is also known for her work off the pitch, helping with the Club’s equality, diversity and inclusion work and she has also won the BBC Young Reporter competition.
